Here’s a 3-step guide to choosing the correct ones for your project:

 

Step 1: Always Choose Trusted Brands

Here are the most common diameter sizes:

• 1/2 inch (12.7 mm),

• 3/4 inch (19 mm)

• 1 1/4 inch (32 mm)

• 1 1/2 inch (38 mm)

• 2 inches (50 mm)

• 3 inches (75 mm)
• 4 inches (100 mm)

Distributors may require an advance order for larger sizes, such as 6".

PVC pipe colors are important to label their application, helping workers avoid mistakes during installation and maintenance. In the Philippines, the most common colors and their purposes include:

1. Orange – Drainage and sewer pipes, especially for wastewater or storm drainage systems.

2. Blue – Pressurized water pipes, often for main water supply lines that distribute clean water to our faucets and showers.

3. Gray – Electrical conduit pipes, protecting power cables. They are sometimes used for lower voltage wires like routing cables.

The following are less common: 

4. Green – Sewer or wastewater pipes for lower-pressure systems.

5. White – Drinking water pipes for residential and commercial buildings.

Do the Same for PVC Fittings

Fittings connect pipes in different ways. Ensure they are the same brand, size, and color as the pipes. Common types include:

• Elbows – Change direction (90° or 45°).

• Tees – Connect three pipes in a T-shape.

• Couplings – Join two pipes of the same size.

• Reducers – Connect pipes of different sizes.

• Caps – Seal the end of a pipe.

• Adapters – Connect PVC to other pipe types.

• Unions (also called Quick Connectors) – Allow easy disconnection for maintenance
